Institute of Ecology of the Carpathians of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine (IECNASU) is a public academic research institution within the Department of General Biology of the Academy of Science of Ukraine. It specializes in fundamental and applied research aimed at obtaining new scientific knowledge in the fields of ecology, ecosystemology, geosociosystemology, botany, zoology, environmental protection, plants ecomorphogenesis, and population ecology. IECNASU runs a research station conducting long-term studies on functioning of terrestrial ecosystems in mountain regions. The Institute has many years of experience in training of highly qualified researchers. IECNASU runs doctoral programs in Ecology and Botany and provides co-supervision for the doctoral students from Ukrainian National Forestry University (P20) and the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. It organizes annual conferences for young scientists and publishes Proceedings on Scientific Foundations of Biodiversity Conservation. The Institute has a doctoral dissertation defense board in Ecology.
