On 14 to 28 June 2021, Svitlana Burchenko and Vladislav Voronin, PhD students of KKNU, had internships and performed research at the Institute of Ecology of the Carpathians (Lviv) within the National Integrated Doctoral Program in Environmental Policy, Management and Technoecology under the ERASMUS+ project INTENSE.
The students visited the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv City Council, where its head Oleksandra Sladkova spoke about management activities in the parks of Lviv, acquainted with the achievements and problems of green and blue infrastructure in Lviv. The meeting was interesting and in general took place in the format of a discussion on the organization of green areas in the city, and comparison of the cases of Kharkiv and Lviv.
On the second day of the internship, PhD students joined the arrangement of the public space of the City Gardening of ‘Rering Greenhouses’ at the initiative of NGOs Permaculture, EkoTerra and PLATO. After work, everyone visited the park ‘Zalizna Voda’, a tour of which was conducted by Marko Bosovych, the gardener of this park, and visited the largest park in Lviv – Stryisky Park, where they got acquainted with the territorial organization of the park, its attractions and areas in need of restoration and reconstruction.
